Steven Hugh DeJong

Steven Hugh DeJong, age 67, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on June 10, in the year of our Lord, 2025.  He was born on March 25, 1958, in Byron Center, Michigan, to Sidney and Josephine DeJong.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cathy; his children, Steve II [Lindsay], and Stephanie; his grandchild, Sterling; and a large extended family who loved him dearly.

Steven was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, a husband, father, and grandfather, known for his generous spirit and strong work ethic. A beloved member of the Alger Heights neighborhood, he was often called the "go-to guy" for handy work and was always willing to help a neighbor.  Steven had a deep love for the outdoors and was an avid trapper and fisherman.

Visitation will be held at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood, MI on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 5 to 7 pm and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 11 am at The Cross Fellowship, 1736 Gezon Parkway, Wyoming, MI, 49519.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Steven’s memory.
