Stephen (Jab-yah-sen) Allen Medawis, age 69, of Grand Rapids, was chosen to be reunited with the Creator in his heavenly home on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Stephen was a loving father and grandfather who was in turn loved by all who met him. He was a cross-country runner in high school and kept that spirit with him throughout his life. Stephen is now reunited with his parents, Henry and Anna Medawis; siblings, baby boy Medawis, Jonathon Medawis, Matthew Medawis, Sherri Medawis, and Merri Medawis; grandson, Brandon Lee; and granddaughter, Wiingush Qua Medawis Sheahan. He will be lovingly remembered by children, Sarah Medawis, Jeremy (Elena) Sheahan; grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Jessa, Dabian, Mazhaquet, Catori-Lee, Memingwanhs; siblings, Henry “Buddy” Medawis III, Toni “Big T” Medawis; Barbara Medawis (mother of Sarah); and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Luella Collins Community Center, 419 126th Ave., Shelbyville, 49344. Burial will take place at Bradley Indian Mission Cemetery.
