Stephen James Forbes, age 71, of Byron Center, formerly of Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022, after a valiant battle with Parkinsons. Steve loved sports; he co-captained his high school football team to win state finals and later became a devoted fan of MSU. He graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He retired after 35 years as a senior project manager from Magna/Donnelly Corp, where he obtained several patents designing and maintaining equipment, and which also allowed him to travel to Japan, Mexico, and Ireland. Whatever he did, he performed it to the highest level. He had a love for cars, and he played several instruments. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years this year, Kathy; children: Dan Forbes, Amy and Mike McLane; grandchildren: James and Juliet McLane; brothers and sisters: Diane Forbes, David and Deb Forbes, Jim and LuAnn Forbes, John and Cathy Forbes; brother-in-law, Chuck and Deb Rose; many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park Avenue SW, Wyoming, with Rev. John Vallier presiding. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to West Michigan Parkinson’s Foundation (https://parkinsonswm.org/donate/).
