Simon Van Dyken

Simon J. Van Dyken, age 95, of Grandville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. He was born on December 28, 1927, to Jacob and Minnie (Klomp) Van Dyken, the eldest of what would be five siblings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, William Weidenaar; sister-in-law, Marilyn Van Dyken; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and Harold Leep. He was a lifelong member of Wyoming Park / Faith Community Christian Reformed Church and retired from Kelvinator. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Lois (Vander Markt) Van Dyken; three daughters, Susan, Debra, and Melissa Van Dyken; brothers and sister, Gerald and Joanne Van Dyken, Clarence Van Dyken, Janet (Weidenaar) and Charles Lindemulder, James and Donna Van Dyken; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Arva and Maynard Vander Stel; and his cousins, nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, whom he adored. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, 5250 Byron Center Ave. SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Roger Groenboom officiating. The burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, July 31, from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Community Christian Education Memorial Fund or Grandville Calvin Christian Schools.
