Sid Lynema, age 86, of Jenison, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 28, 2020. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. Sid will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Suzanne (Sewrey); his children, Robert and Helen Lynema, Cynthia and William Brown, Pamela Lynema, Shelley and Patrick Muir; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sisters, Martha Anderson, Arlene and Allan Van Popering; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Roberta DeVoss; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Sid was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa who cherished his family and had a deep faith in God. He was blessed with a great sense of humor and a contagious smile that brought enjoyment to all who knew him. His God and his family were his first priority and concern in life. He always introduced his wife Sue as his “high school sweetheart,” and taught his children and grandchildren the meaning of hard work. Sid demonstrated this work ethic and provided for his family as the former owner of Hilo Dairy and Market and co-owner of West Michigan Sprinkling and Mower. He was a well- known “handyman” and was always up for the challenge of repairing any discarded item. He served his Lord with his time and talents in many ways. He was a charter member of Cottonwood Church in Jenison and also attended Pinegrove Church in Newaygo, serving at both churches. Upon retiring, Sid and Sue moved to Big Whitefish Lake where he enjoyed the politics of a small town. Relatives and friends are invited to join together with Sid’s family for a graveside service at Georgetown Township Cemetery at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 1, with Rev. Arthur Schoonveld officiating. Those attending the graveside service are encouraged to bring a chair. Memorial contributions in Sid’s name may be given to the Sunset Legacy Foundation. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers at American House and Sunset Manor for the love and compassionate care given to Sid. Condolences may be sent online at www.mkdfuneralhome.com
