June 9, 2026

Andrew Crowley, 43 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully in Katie’s arms on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Andy was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was a kind and friendly person who genuinely enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Andy loved talking with others, building relationships, and creating lasting memories. He was well known for his quick wit, infectious personality, and often humorous—sometimes dark—sense of humor that would bring a smile to those around him. Above all, Andy was a man of service, always willing to lend a helping hand to others, even while facing his own health challenges.

At just 37 years old, what Andy believed was appendicitis became a life-altering diagnosis: Stage IV colorectal cancer with liver metastasis. What followed was years of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation treatments, major surgeries, and the removal of more than 20 tumors—all while raising his two young sons. Through every setback and challenge, Andy faced his battle with remarkable courage, and determination.

Andy wore his scars with pride. To him, they were symbols of survival, perseverance, and a reminder that life is worth fighting for. He was a positive and driven individual who poured his heart into everything he pursued. Whether bicycling, photography, cooking, or turning plants into a bonsai, Andy approached his passions with dedication and enthusiasm. That same commitment and relentless spirit were evident throughout his cancer journey as he fought courageously against overwhelming odds.

Through his strength, resilience, and unwavering outlook on life, Andy touched countless lives and inspired many throughout his journey. His legacy of perseverance, kindness, and love will continue to live on in those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, of 19 years, Katie Crowley; children, Ander Crowley and Elliott Crowley; parents, Doug and Peggy Crowley; brothers, Aaron Crowley, Adam Crowley; parents-in-law, Mark and Therese Franzel; brothers-in-law, John and Amber Franzel, Patrick Franzel; nieces and nephews, Joey, Daniel, Victor, Mark, Conlan; and many friends.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, with Rev. Steve VanderWest officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, June 12 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, and on Saturday from 10-11 am at the Funeral Home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance
