
Shirley Mae Wolf, age 85, of Byron Center, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 17, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Julia Boss; brothers, Richard Boss and Steven Boss; son-in-law, Dennis Werkema. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of over 68 years, Eugene; children: Vickie Lynn Werkema, Debra Rae and Stephen Gage, Kimberlee Sue and Rick Heuvelman; 9 grandchildren: Chad Werkema, Tammy Heyboer, Alisa Sinke, Christy Gage, Audrey Nielsen, Matthew Gage, Ashley Heuvelman-Smith, Jennifer Moore, Amanda Vasquez; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Toni Boss; special friend, Carol Fosburg; special Boss nieces and nephews, Andrea, Liz VanDalsen, Steven, Josh; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Shirley was a devoted, loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was approachable and selfless but at the same time was quick witted and feisty. Her family meant the world to her. The grandkids often called her “Granny” or “Nene”. She loved spending time with them and spoiling them. Shirley was active in St. John Vianney parish, Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Red Hat Society. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 5:00 pm at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with Fr. John Vallier presiding. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with a Rosary at 3:30 pm. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation.
