Shirley Ann Phillips, age 86, of Holland, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ralph Phillips; son-in-law, John DeWeerd; siblings, Bert Murphy, Robert “Bobby” Murphy, Thomas Edward “Tommy” Murphy, Nancy Festervan. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her children, Mike and Kristie Phillips, Julie and Joe Cuellar, Jeanette DeWeerd; grandchildren, Andrew and Nicole Behrens, David and Shelby DeWeerd, Sarah DeWeerd, Danielle DeWeerd, Madelyn DeWeerd, Joshua and Elizabeth Brandt, Benjamin Brandt, Robert Hickerty, Naomi Phillips, Austin Riggs; eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Lamonda Sue “Monnie” Spalding, Bettye Bell, Mary C. ”Catsy” Inman, Brenda and Harold Foster, and Mary Alice Brown; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Shirley retired from Sheldon Meadows nursing home in Hudsonville after many years of faithful service. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed golfing with her husband, going on ice cream outings with anyone who would go with her to eat ice cream, and outings to the beach to enjoy the sun, water, and sand. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
