
Sean Gerard Maitner, age 46, of Wyoming, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Saturday, November 9, 2019. Sean was a social worker, musician, author, advocate, outdoorsman, counselor, angler, activist, friend, humorist and storyteller. He graduated from Catholic Central, GVSU and WMSU. He dedicated his life to helping the mentally disabled and making the case for improved health care for those with mental illness. He had a passion for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Most of all, he was a kind and loving husband and father. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 15 years, Leslie; daughter: Rayne; parents: Gerard and Bernadette Maitner, Jamie and Leonard Krug; brothers and sisters: Meredith (Ron) Kauffman, Joseph (Roxanne) Maitner; sister-in-law, Lea (Mike) Lindower; one niece and four nephews; many uncles, aunts and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming, with Rev. John Vallier and Rev. Don Weber officiating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home 4031 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming, as well as one hour prior to the service at church.
