Sarah Elizabeth Allan Borisch

Sarah Elizabeth (Allan) Borisch was born in Cincinnati, OH on June 26, 1921 to George and Sarah Allan.  She peacefully passed away on July 26, 2017 in Grand Rapids, MI.  Sarah was preceded in death by Thomas Valentine Borisch, whom she married in Cincinnati, OH on October 24, 1948 and together, they raised four sons: Theodore (Saundra), Richard (Sara), Steven (Cindy), and Jonathan (Mary Kay).  Sarah had four children, nine grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.  After raising her children, Sarah enrolled in Aquinas College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and subsequently began her work with terminally ill patients and their families at Butterworth Hospital.  It was through this association, coupled with her passion and dedication to her work, that Sarah developed a relationship with Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, historically known for her own work with death and dying.  Sarah was instrumental in bringing Hospice into Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Sarah had a love and flair for the arts.  She wrote two books and was also involves in Community Theater and dabbled in painting.  She loved animals and was the light and life of any party.  Sarah was laid to rest on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery.
