Sandra Riksen

Sandra Riksen, age 79, of Jenison, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. She was looking forward to spending eternity with her loving God and Savior in Heaven. Sandy was a remarkable person - loving, quiet, kind, generous, and thoughtful. She was born in Holland, Michigan to Julius and Juliana Ten Cate, who passed away years ago. She graduated from Holland High School and Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. She was an exceptional artist and designer. While at Kendall, she met her future husband, Ron. Together they were blessed with two great children, Randy and Stephanie, whom she loved dearly. Sandy appreciated Christian music very much. She sang solos and duets in churches and participated in church choirs and praise teams, including her home church, Fellowship Reformed of Hudsonville. Sandy had fond memories of living on Silver Lake in Traverse City with her family for over thirty summers. She also enjoyed Airstream camping, boating, shopping, and campfires with family and friends. 

Sandy will be missed by her immediate family, her husband of 57 years, Ron; son, Randy (Lori) Riksen; her daughter and best friend, Stephanie Riksen; grandchildren: Alexys, Kadin, Natalie, Gavin, Ryan, Kaylie, Ellie, and Ryder; brother, Jack (Linda); sister, Roxann (Floyd); sister-in-law, Mary Beth; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Shawn Hulst officiating. Burial will take place at Blendon Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Tuesday, January 20, from 5-7 pm and Wednesday from 1-2 pm at the funeral home.
