July 26, 2025

Sally Ann (Bowbeer) Massman, 85, of Woodhaven, Michigan, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

She was born April 16, 1940, to Charles and Ann (McNamara) Bowbeer. She graduated from Southwestern High School (Detroit),  Port Huron Junior College (Port Huron), and Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo).

On August 1, 1964, Sally married the love of her life, Sterling “Butch” Massman Jr. Together they raised three daughters, Sherri and identical twins, Suzi and Sandi. Sally was an elementary school teacher for over 20 years in the Woodhaven School District,  using her Master’s degree to inspire young minds to pursue knowledge and cultivate curiosity. After her retirement, Sally embraced new adventures with her husband, Butch, as they traveled by motorhome around North America. She was an accomplished stitcher, creating beautiful, handcrafted works that will be cherished for generations. Sally enjoyed being outdoors, tending to her flowers, and watching the birds. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love knew no bounds.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ann (McNamara) Bowbeer; and her great-granddaughter, Enara Rei. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, Sterling "Butch" Massman Jr.; daughters, Sherri (John) Seem of Portage, MI, Suzanne (Noel) Dreyer of Zeeland, MI, and Sandra (Kirk) Rose of Petoskey, MI; grandchildren, Kirk Rose Jr., Travis Rose, Jacob Seem, Elizabeth Seem, Tyler Seem, Ashley Killilea, Dylan Killilea, Krista (Nick) Edgerly, Kendra Dreyer, Audrey Dreyer; and great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Wesley, and Walker Edgerly.

The family will be holding a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, to honor Sally’s passion for education, donations can be made to the Dementia Institute
