
Ruth Jean Eddy-Olger-Nelson, age 98, of Rockford passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. She was surrounded by family and friends who tried to make her days as comfortable as possible. Ruth was born on February 17, 1926, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Sherman and Ruth Eddy. She was raised in Saranac with her parents, brother, Warren and sister, Mary Jane. She was a food dietary supervisor for several different food organizations for around 25 years. In 2000, she joined the Junior Diet Kitchen Guild at Butterworth Hospital, volunteering twice a month. In 2016, Ruth was proud to be one of the first residents to move into StoryPoint in Rockford. Ruth loved to paint, craft, and garden around the house. She will be remembered for her love for her family and her strong will and determination. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Nelson; daughter, Renee Reeves; and her husband, Paul Reeves; grandson, Adam Reeves; granddaughter, Kelly McNeela; and her son-in-law, Paul Reeves. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Linda (Tom) Cameron, Michael (Brenda) Olger, Scott (Debbie) Olger; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, at 11 am at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont, MI with Chaplain Nathaniel Johnson officiating. Burial Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Olivia’s Gift.
