Ruth Horjus

Ruth Jean Horjus, age 92, of Wyoming, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed music, especially singing, and was a dedicated member of the church choir for many years. She loved camping with her family, a passion she instilled in her children. Ruth was also a parapro at Wyoming Public Schools, where she truly loved working with the kids. She was also an excellent baker, known especially for her pies. Her hobbies included puzzles, sewing, and reading, and one of her favorite games was Rummikub. Above all, she loved the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Marvin Horjus; and son-in-law, Mike Otis. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Deb and Tom Wier, Linda Otis, Mark and Angie Horjus, Beth and Rick Huls; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. The burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 2-2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
