Ruth Holst

Ruth Elaine Holst, age 86, of Jenison, was welcomed into heaven on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Ruth was a faithful wife, a loving mother, and the best grandmother her grandchildren could have asked for. She will be remembered for her willingness to care for others, especially when it came to feeding them. Her award-winning potato salad was a staple at many family gatherings and church outings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Mart” Holst; infant daughter; daughter, Pamela Vander Kolk; great-granddaughter, Haven Mullet; parents, Richard and Jennie Isenga; brothers and sister-in-law, Gordon Isenga, Ronald and Nancy Isenga. Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her children, Elaine and Fred Geskus, Barbara and John Spiker, Tyce and Jennifer Holst; son-in-law Bruce Vander Kolk; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Joan and Jim Peacock, Myra Isenga; sister-in-law, Dodie Holst; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Hoeve officiating. Burial will take place at Forest Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Tuesday, June 2 from 4-7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Jamestown) 2371 Riley St. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Forest Grove Church.
