Ruth A. Kok

Ruth A. Kok (Haan), age 84, of Jenison, passed away unexpectedly and was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. If you knew her, you know that she was a "character" in the truest sense of the word. Full of life. A tough lady who traveled a road that few could handle. A "Seymour girl" from Alger Heights who married a soldier and traveled the world. A mother of six, who experienced so many laughs and tears. She bore the pain of losing her husband, son, daughter, and grandson but still maintained strength and joy. She loved her kids and grandkids, so proud of everything they did. She liked to laugh and make fun of herself. A diabetic with an insatiable sweet tooth who loved to bake. A great cook who even though she lived alone, still made enough to feed eight. She loved to see old friends and talk. To coin an old expression, 'they broke the mold after making her'.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Sherwood Kok, Sr.; her son, Gary Kok, her daughter, Kathy Kok; her grandson, Joshua Kok. She will be lovingly remembered by Robert and Cynthia Kok, Gary’s wife, Laura Kok, Bill and Sandy Kok, Woody and Wendy Kok, David and Jami Kok; her grandchildren, Rob and Leah Kok, Jennifer Gryczka, James and Sarah Kok, Charlotte and Jake Lenartz, Kristina Kok, Jason and Sarah Bigelow, Nikki and Brad Walworth, Olivia, Ella, Addison, and Hudson Kok, Jackson, and Gibson Kok; several  great-grandchildren; her sisters, Joyce Van Vels, and Carol Velthouse; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be held at Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
