Russell Sella

Russell Sella, age 83, of Grand Rapids was welcomed home to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 13, 2022. He was born July 7, 1939, in Grand Rapids to the late Christopher and Mary Sella. He was predeceased by two brothers, Quentin and Tony; and one sister, Theresa Skrabis. Surviving are two brothers and a sister, Paul (Dale), John (Arlene), Mary Gioia; sisters-in-law, Jan and Wanda Sella; and 28 nieces and nephews. Russ was a constant fixture in the lives of his nieces and nephews. Sunday at Grandpa and Grandma’s house included a spaghetti dinner with lots of cousins, and entertainment was provided by Uncle Russ. He had a simple and joyful way of looking at life and he was a gifted musician. He played harmonica, accordion, piano, organ, and trumpet all by ear. Russ loved dancing at various events, especially polka dancing. He worked at the Federal Building for over 20 years before retiring. Russ will always be remembered as a gentle, kind, and helpful soul. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, October 18th, 11:00 am at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park Avenue, Wyoming, with Rev. John Vallier officiating. Burial Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family at church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Wyoming Senior Center.
