Roy Lambert, Jr.

September 22, 1931 ~
April 19, 2025

On September 22, 1931, Roy Stanley Lambert Jr. was born in Wytheville, VA. He had four sisters and one brother, and survived them all, but unexpectedly on April 19, 2025, after 93 ½ years, God called him to his heavenly home. We that are left without him were not prepared, but he loved God and was more than ready to go.

While growing up, he attended Wytheville schools before enlisting in the Army during the Korean War. He helped during the Nuremberg trials, although he didn’t like to talk about the war and often wondered why God spared him from death and not his friends.

Roy married Nancy Campbell on August 21, 1953. They had three daughters, Carolyn, Lynn, and Robin whom he loved dearly though he originally wanted sons. However, the last several years he was grateful he had the girls because of the care they provided him. Roy was a great father and financial provider, often working two or three jobs in order to give his family the extras in life. He retired as a welder from Steelcase where he often enjoyed pulling pranks on his coworkers. As time passed, he enjoyed reading Westerns, visiting with his grandkids (biological and those he “adopted”), his friends, and neighbors - they were all like family! Roy also became a Cubs fan, especially when the Tigers weren’t doing well. He was a big jokester, you never knew if he was telling you the truth or not. He was the best Dad ever!

Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Nancy. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Carolyn and Rick Emery, Lynn and Duane Roach, Robin Lambert, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott St. with Pastor Vic Wilson officiating. A private family burial will take place at Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Friday from 10-11 am at the funeral home prior to the service.
