November 3, 2021

Roy G. Bauchan, age 92, of Wyoming Michigan, formerly of Manistee, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 3, 2021. He was a graduate of Manistee High School class of 1947 and a proud member of the Utility Workers Union, Local 107, while working at Consumers Power Company. Known by most as Grandpa Roy G., he was a Disney lover and an avid baseball fan, especially when it came to his Detroit Tigers. His greatest pleasures in life were an ice cream cone- no matter the weather- an afternoon swim at Grand Haven, polka dancing with whomever could keep up, and riding his bicycle with the baskets full of grandchildren. When he wasn’t camping along the shores of Lake Michigan, he was vacationing in Walt Disney World with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; sons, Timothy and Gary Bauchan. Whether it be his quick wit, unyielding optimism, or fierce devotion to his friends and family, we are honored that there is a piece of Roy G. in each and every one of us. He will be lovingly remembered by brother, Leon (Andrea) Bauchan and their family; his children, Jenny Bauchan, Nancy (Charles) Poelman, Wendy Bauchan, Tracy (Mark) Davis, and Francine Bauchan- the surviving spouse of his son Gary. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rebecca Poelman, Ryan (Amanda) Poelman and their daughter Kayla, Stephan Bauchan, Robin Poelman, Philip (Maureen) Bauchan and their children Josephine and Peter, Renee (Brent) Walker and their children Carrie, Eve and Wallace, Erin (Chris) Bauchan-Caprara, Gregory Bauchan, Andrew Davis. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 8, at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park Avenue SW, Wyoming, with Rev. John Vallier officiating. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday, November 7, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park Avenue SW, Wyoming, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the church.
