Roy D. Gaunt

Roy D. Gaunt, age 79, of Grandville, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.  Roy retired from General Motors Fisher Body after 42 years. He served as a reserve police officer for the Grandville Police Department in the 1960’s.  He was a West Michigan Umpire, the President of Grandville Little League, member of S.A.L. at American Legion Post 179 and a member of the Lions Club. Roy enjoyed hunting and loved to winter down in Florida.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Voetberg) Gaunt; parents, Lester and Ivah Gaunt; and brother, Howard Gaunt. He will be dearly missed by his children, Tami (Rob) Bailey, Todd Gaunt, Dawn Gaunt; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale (Gloria) Gaunt, Norman (Gerry Stockwell) Gaunt; brothers-in-law, Bob (Dee) Voetberg, Ray (Elaine Williams) Voetberg; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.   A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3152 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming, with Pastor Lee Welker officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan or Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
