Rowan Swiecicki

Rowan Walter Swiecicki, aged 16, of Grand Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 9, 2018. He was born on December 23, 2001 in Bay City, MI and was raised in Grand Rapids, MI. He attended City High School (IBS) in Grand Rapids where he was actively involved in the Mayor’s Youth Council. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, and was passionate about music and playing the violin. Rowan also loved his sports, enjoying football, basketball, and wrestling. Most of all, he will always be remembered for his creativity and his love and zest for life. His contagious personality of having fun, and his loyal and deep love for his family and friends was evident to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his father, Shaun Swiecicki; his mother, Angela Kleman; sister, Taya Kleman; brothers, Christopher Swiecicki and Camryn Swiecicki; grandparents, Randy and Becky Swiecicki, grandmothers, Nancy Hornsby, Nancy Kleman and Maureen Grier; aunts and uncles, Collin Swiecicki, Stephen Beck, Justin and Janece Grier; and his closest friend, Avery Arasia and family; many more beloved great aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 12-3 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Wyoming Chapel), 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home in consideration of the needs of the family.  The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the first responders and all the staff at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital for the sensitivity, love, and compassionate care given to them throughout this difficult time.
