RoseMarie Smit

RoseMarie Smit, age 93, of Jenison passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. She was born August 28, 1932, to the late Martin Baker and Henrietta (Baker) Fox. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 ½ years, John J. Smit; son, Ricky J. Smit; granddaughter, Sarah Kaper; brother, Wayne Baker; brothers-in-law, Ken Smit, Len Smit, and John Woltjer; sister-in-law, Lenora Smit; her parents in-law; several nieces, and other extended family. RoseMarie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Ron and Cheri Smit, Jan and Kris Kaper, Joanne and Randy Teesdale, Rodger and Kathy Smit; six grandchildren; Nick (Lisa), Cody (Jenny), Eric, Luke, Jeremiah, Allison; three step grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Henrietta Wiltjer, Mary Smit, and Greta Baker; and several nieces and nephews. She enjoyed being a wife and mother and taking care of her grandchildren but most importantly RoseMarie wanted her children and grandchildren to know the Lord. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday April 17, 2026, at the Church of the Open Barn, 6421 56th Ave., Hudsonville. with Pastor Kirby Huseby officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday from 4-6 pm at the church prior to the service.
