Rose Iwema

Rose Alyce Iwema, age 73, of Hudsonville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. Rose was born December 24, 1951, in Oak Park, IL to Joseph, Jr. and Margaret Folkerts. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph, and her brother, Joe Folkerts III. Rose is survived by her loving husband, Fred; devoted children, Margaret and Patrick Alsum, Mary and Jared VanOverloop, Sarah and Michael Orzechowski; grandchildren, Allyson Alsum, Joseph Alsum, Jason and Brianna Alsum, Tyler and Bri VanOverloop, Logan VanOverloop, Ethan VanOverloop, and a new little one on the way; and two great-granddaughters with a new little one on the way. She is also survived by her beloved mother, Margaret; her best friend and sister, Judith and Richard Reyenga; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Marlene Iwema, Martha and Pete Kooger, Mary and Rod Gustafson; and many loving nieces and nephews. Rose married her high school sweetheart on February 5, 1971, in Des Plaines, Illinois. Most of their married days raising their three girls were spent in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. They were faithful charter members of Bethel Protestant Reformed Church until their move to Hudsonville, Michigan in 2019. Since their move, they’ve been members at Faith Protestant Reformed Church in Jenison. The family wishes to thank Faith Hospice, especially Kathy B., for all the love and support given to Rose and her family. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Faith Protestant Reformed Church, 7194 20th Ave., Jenison, 49428 with Rev. Clayton Spronk officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 2-5 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Monday from 10-10:45 am at church prior to the 11 am service.
