
Ronald Lee DeYoung, age 87, of Jenison, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2026. Ronald dedicated much of his life to serving others. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years, including during the Vietnam War, spending much of his military career overseas. Following his time in the Navy, he moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and worked at Smith Industries (formerly Lear Siegler) for 25 years. Ronald also continued his commitment to serving his community by volunteering with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department for several years. Ronald enjoyed spending time outdoors and was always happiest when he was doing something alongside the people he loved. He and his wife, Sharon, shared many wonderful memories riding motorcycles, boating, traveling, and going on cruises. Ronald was sociable, loved to laugh, and had a wonderful ability to have a good time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Sharon DeYoung. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Michelle and Earl Sneden, Lori and Kevin Harrington; grandchildren, Traci and Dan Poortenga, Bradley Sneden, Christopher and Nicki Sneden, Sean and Elyse Stevenson, Andrew and Chelsea Stevenson; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, LaDon Gustafson; and brother-in-law, Timothy Thompson. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at Allendale Township Cemetery. His family is planning a celebration of life gathering for a later date.
