Ronald Koets

Ronald J. Koets, age 82, of Grandville, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 12, 2021, after a more than five-year battle with a rare form of Parkinsonism. Ron served in the Army Reserves Artillery Division (1957-1964) where he was awarded “best cannoneer” out of 500 men. In 1993, Ron retired from Spartan Stores after 30 years and then worked at Royal Securities as a financial consultant for 12 more years. He also volunteered for Love INC in Hudsonville. He loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed golfing, traveling, and card games. Ron was a kind, loving and generous man who lived what he believed. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Ruthann (Roode) Koets; and his parents, Marinus and Annette (VandenBerg) Koets. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 29 years, Kathy Koets; his children, Kim and Todd Kraker, Tami and John Huitsing, Jamie and Tim Vander Kolk, and Amee Koets; his stepchildren, Kim and Doug Ritz, Mike and Stacy Bos, Marc and Kristin Bos, and Kevin and Kelly Bos. He was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 4375 Ivanrest SW, Grandville, with Rev. Shawn Hulst officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.
