
Ronald Laurence Duemler, age 86, of Hudsonville passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023 surrounded by his family. Ron was born to Lisle and Mae Duemler and was one of three children. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1954, Western Michigan University in 1959, and was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. WMU is where he met his wife, Elaine Birdie Knope, and where they were married. Ron was a senior medical representative for Lederle Laboratories and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals for 37 years. He was also charter president of the Wyoming Jaycees and served on the Godwin Heights School Board for seven years, chairing the committee who passed the millage to build the high school. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Donna Kline and Diane Barnes. Ron is lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Elaine Birdie Duemler; his four children, Pattie (Jerry) Rozema, Bryan (Patty) Duemler, Susan Duemler, Brad (Laurie) Duemler; grandchildren, Kevin (Brittany) Duemler, Nate (Courtney) Duemler, Matt Rozema, Cameron Rozema, Anna Duemler, and Aaron Duemler. Ron was known for his gentleness, his sense of humor, his love of his faith, his family, and his sports. He could be found at every sporting event his children and grandchildren took part in, loving every minute. He coached a Little League baseball team when his son, Brad played, and enjoyed watching games on TV, especially his Chicago White Sox. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3937 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville with Fr. Stephen Durkee officiating. A private burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, May 8 from 5-7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with a prayer service at 7 pm. An additional hour of visitation will take place prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the International Myeloma Foundation.
