Roger   Zylstra

Zylstra, Roger Roger Zylstra, age 81, of Grandville, peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Conny; their children, Betty and Dan Besteman, Terri and Scott White, James “Jeff” Zylstra, Doug and Ketzi Zylstra, Steve and Krisztina Zylstra; grandchildren, Dustin, Mark, Jeffrey and Cody Besteman, Lori Grasman, Kelley DeJonge, Samuel and Sebastian Zylstra, Joshua, Caleb and Hannah Zylstra; great grandchildren, Braedon and Katelyn Besteman, Haley and Jared Grasman, Paityn and Wyatt DeJonge; sisters and brothers, Ann (deceased) and John (deceased) Postma, , Wilbur (deceased) and Joyce Zylstra, Bernard (deceased) and Josina Zylstra, Louise (deceased) and William (deceased) Dupon, Grace and Robert (deceased) Albers, Dirk and Sia Zylstra, Gerrit and Carol (deceased) Zylstra, Uko and Jane Zylstra; special cousins Fred and Fran Hekstra; many nieces and nephews.  Roger proudly served our country as a member of the US Army during the Korean War.  He was the owner of W&R Builders as well as owner and developer of Oak Crest Communities.  He was strongly involved in charitable works including Sojourner’s, Harbor House, Friendship Home and World Mission.  He faithfully served his church for many years.  Funeral services will be held on Monday 11 am at Hanley Christian Reformed Church, O-372 Jackson, Grandville with Rev. Douglas Fauble officiating.  Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Michigan Blood Bank where he was a lifelong donor or Samaritan’s Purse.
