Roger Steenstra

Roger George Steenstra, age 79, of Jenison, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 28, 2024, and is now reunited with his wife, Jan of 59 years, who preceded him just 34 days ago. Roger was a kind and loving dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at and later owned Steenstra Cookie Company from 1969 to 1997. He then went on to work at Serv-U-Success from 1997 until  he retired in 2019. Over the years, Roger enjoyed playing softball and bowling. Many friendships were made playing in different tournaments and leagues. Roger served his church in various ways, including singing in choir and serving on council. Above all, his love for the Lord and dedication to his family was evident to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Herman Steenstra, Hazel Dunn, and Judy Schalk; and brother-in-law, John Vonk. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Traci and Rex Gulch, Tim and Ami Steenstra, and Tony Steenstra; grandchildren, Bailey Gulch, Hunter Gulch, and Alexis Steenstra; great-grandchildren, Kinzlee and Sarrah; siblings, Marilyn and Bob Ebels, Petie Vonk, Dave and Linda Steenstra, Ethel Steenstra, Norman Schalk; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dave and Nancy Tiesma, Barb and Larry VerHage, Frank and Young Sook Tiesma; beloved friends, Don and Marianne Fredricks; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Jamestown) 2371 Riley St., Hudsonville with Rev. Lew VanderMeer officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Saturday from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
