Roger Lee Groen-Boelens

Roger Lee Groen, age 80, of Grand Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 5, 2026. 

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jody (Kevin) Woodgate and Jeff (Karen Durkee-Groen) Groen; grandchildren, Troy, Tyler, Taylor, Shyann, and Tanner; great-grandchildren, Sterling, Sawyer, and Addie; sister, Carolyn Groen; and special friend, Yvonne. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Boelens-Groen; and sisters, Barb Groen and Bernice (Merle) Wilson.

Roger proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War and he enjoyed watching all types of sports. 

According to Roger’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Kent County Veterans Association.
