Roger Elders

Roger Lee Elders, age 82, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 2, 2026. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8

Roger was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a cherished grandfather, who always put others before himself. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with family at the cottage. 

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kevin Dawson. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Cheryl Elders; children and grandchildren, Deb and Todd Rindfield (Jessica, Kristina, Matthew), Brian and Jen Elders (Simon, Olivia, Emma), Scott Elders (Sydney, Hailey), Rebecca and Andy Gibbie (Daniel, Morgan); eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Marv and Marge Elders, John and Shirley Elders, Doug and Judy Elders; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Carolyn Leech, Betsy Leech, Karen Leech, Jan and Diane Leech, Julayne Leech; many nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Shawn Hulst officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Blood Cancer United.
