
Kathleen Gruenbauer, age 85, of Wyoming passed away peacefully to be with the Lord and her son and daughter on Monday, June 22, 2026. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Godwin Heights High School in 1958. She enjoyed a long career in banking and, alongside her husband, lovingly grew miniature roses together as a business. She had a passion for gardening and was known for her wonderful sense of humor, as well as her kind and thoughtful nature.
She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Leo Young and daughter, Brenda Marie Carlson; husband, Richard Gruenbaur; parents, Leo J. McCarty and Katherine M. McCarty. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Chris C. Young; sister and brother in law, Pat and Jerry Jenkinson, son in law, Chuck Carlson; daughter in law, Colleen Young; grandchildren, Katie Keiser, Curt Carlson and Kyle Carlson; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park Avenue SW, Wyoming with Rev. John Vallier officiating. Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Interim Hospice.
