Roderick Kreuzer, age 88, of Hudsonville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Rod was born on September 20, 1937, in Grand Rapids, MI, to Herman and Gertrude Kreuzer as the fourth of six children. He graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School, Calvin College, and the University of Michigan with a doctorate degree in Science Education. Rod devoted his life to his Lord, serving as a Christian school teacher for 44 years. Ten of those years were at Hope PR Christian School, and the last 21 were at Heritage Christian School. He also served many years as a faithful elder at Southwest Protestant Reformed Church. In his retirement, Rod enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his many dear friends and relatives. He loved to see the beauty of God's creation. Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Gertrude; his siblings, Bernard (Nella) Kreuzer, Gloria (Robert) De Bruin, Frederick Kreuzer, Richard (Doris) Kreuzer, and Eleanor (Luke) Tamminga. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Evonne; his sister-in-law, Eloise Riemersma; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Though the Lord did not give him children by blood, Rod was blessed with many “adopted” children and grandchildren who will also miss him dearly, especially the Bos and Vanden Berg families.
Relatives and friends may meet with the family at Southwest Protestant Reformed Church, 4895 Ivanrest Avenue SW, on Friday, October 3, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Rod’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 4, at 1:00 p.m. at Southwest PRC, with Rev. Michael De Vries officiating. The memorial will be livestreamed on Southwest’s website. A private burial service will be held at Georgetown Township Cemetery with Prof. Ronald Cammenga officiating. Memorial contributions may be sent to a Christian school of your choice.
