Robert M. Post, age 83, passed away surrounded by love and family on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in Byron Center, Michigan.
Born on April 19, 1942, in Grand Rapids, Bob grew up with a strong sense of integrity and determination that shaped his life. After graduating from Western Michigan University, he served in the Michigan National Guard for 29 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in April 2002.
Alongside his service, Bob built a lifelong career in sales, primarily within the paint industry. His passion for his work, the brands he represented, and the customers he served was clear to everyone who knew him. For Bob, sales was never just a job, it was a calling that fueled his soul throughout his life.
Following a brief retirement, Bob joined Campbell Sales in 2013 and eventually took ownership of the company. He led with pride and dedication until his passing, earning the respect of colleagues and clients as a trusted elder statesman who left a lasting impression on the industry.
Outside of work, Bob was a devoted sports fan who cheered faithfully for Michigan State, the Detroit Lions, and Detroit Tigers. He also loved NASCAR so much he took part in the Richard Petty Driving Experience in 2004.
Besides sports, he and his wife of 60 years, Dian, became beloved regulars at several West Michigan restaurants, where friendships flourished over shared meals and familiar faces.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Dian; their children, Marianne, Laurel (Mitch), Kellie (Tom), and Kurt; as well as his three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Eric; and his parents, Martin and Margaret.
A man of steadfast values and quiet strength, Bob leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and generosity. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, Michigan, where he will be laid to rest near his son, Eric.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation. The family also extends heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff at the University of Michigan Health-West Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
