Robert P. Koerner

Robert P. Koerner, age 66, of Grandville, was called home to his risen Lord and Savior   on Resurrection Sunday, April 12, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Mae Koerner; and his father-in-law, Louis Elzinga. Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family. He was blessed with a great sense of humor and a strong work ethic. Bob had a smile that could light up a room and a contagious personality. Even through the challenges he faced due to his injuries, his love for the Lord was evident to all who knew him. Even when he struggled for words, Bob was always able to give a huge “Praise the Lord!”  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Karen (Elzinga) Koerner; children and grandchildren, Kara and Todd Cammenga (Drew, Ty, Chase, Makenzie, Lexi), Robin and Jim Dertien (Lauren, Emily, Ethan), Luanne and Alex Cammenga (Noah, Micah, Piper), Dan and Rhonda Koerner (Lexi, Dylan, Lucy, Everdeen), Rebecca and Adam Eerdmans (Malachi, Owen, Ella, Naomi, Levi, Louis); his siblings, Dan and Julie Koerner, Ruth and Mike Elzinga, Mary and Pete Kamps, Barb and Jack Anderson, Jim and Beth Koerner; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sally and Cal Jongsma, Kel and Beth Elzinga, Doug and Kim Elzinga, Brian and Bonnie Elzinga. Due to the current health concerns regarding COVID-19, a private family graveside service will be held at Rosedale Memorial Park. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff and caregivers of Sheldon Meadows and Spectrum Health Hospice for the love and compassionate care given to Bob during his time there. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Sheldon Meadows Assisted Living Center.
