Robert Michael O’Neil, Jr.

Robert M. O'Neil Jr. (Bob), age 69, of Grand Rapids, passed away on December 19th, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents Doris and Robert O'Neil. 

In his younger years, Robert found joy in riding motorcycles, deer hunting, playing golf, and fishing in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He was happiest when he was busy, often spending hours in the garage tinkering, fixing, or building something with his hands. Robert devoted more than 40 years to his career as a commercial driver and retired from Van Eerden Trucking in 2023. He took immense pride in his work and was known for his reliability, dedication, and strong work ethic. 

Robert is survived by his daughters Katie (Andre) Benjamin and Kelsey (Nick) Rusche; grandchildren, Carter, Harper, Hudson, Ryan, Quinn, and Zoey; siblings, Fred (Mary) O'Neil and Carol Chandler, and many loving nieces and nephews. 

His greatest joy was having the title "Papa" and sitting in the front row of every soccer game, theatre production, and dance recital. Robert will be remembered for his sense of humor and being the best "girl dad" around. 

Rest peacefully, Dad. You are loved and will be missed, always.
