Robert J. Gregorski

Robert “Bob” Gregorski, 74, of Kentwood, a loving family man and educator, died November 20, 2021, at Spectrum Health Butterworth surrounded by his family. He was a graduate of Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School, completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Eastern Michigan University and Master of Education from Grand Valley State University. Bob spent his entire 36-year teaching career at Godwin Heights Public Schools in the English and Language Arts department and coached football and track for many of those years. He spent his summers as a driver for L & L Produce, Spartan Stores and in retirement for Van Eerden Trucking. Bob is survived by his spouse of 53 years, MaryLynn; and their children: Mike (Pam) Gregorski, Kate (Greg) Weigand and Paul (Stacy) Gregorski. He was a proud grandpa to seven granddaughters: Lindsey and Courtney Gregorski, Madilyn, Allison, Lillian and Evelynn Weigand and Julia Gregorski. He is also survived by his sisters: Carol Sichterman and Ruth Miedzielec; brothers-and-sisters in-laws, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death are Bob’s parents, Stanley and Elizabeth Gregorski; his sister, Margaret (Gregorski) Baar; his in-laws, Francis and Gloria O’Betts; brothers-in-law, Dale Miedzielec and James Sichterman; many aunts and uncles. Bob, aka “Mr. G” or “Coach G”, was known for his love of teaching and coaching, for Godwin student theater trips to Chicago (“G-K Tours”), coaching Powder Puff football, competing in the IHM Men’s golf league, attending college football games, participating in Habitat for Humanity projects and all things Notre Dame. The family will greet visitors on December 28 from 12:00–3:00 and 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. S.E., Kentwood. The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on December 29, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1935 Plymouth S.E., presided by Rev. Troy Nevins. Facemasks optional. Bob’s family expresses their gratitude for the clinical and compassionate care provided by the staff of Spectrum Health Butterworth.
