Robert G. Barton

Robert G. Barton, age 54, of Grand Rapids passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 20, 2025. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 5 years, Margaret “Maggie”; sons, Daniel (fiancée, Becca DeVries) Barton and Garrett Barton; step-daughter, Maria Zarbeck; father, Roger Barton; siblings, David and Mila Barton, Kevin and Cindy Barton, Linda Stearns; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and of course, his dog, Millie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia “Ginny” Barton; and brother-in-law, David Stearns. Robert had a lust for life, loved being a musician and snowmobiling. He worked hard but played harder, was a jokester, enjoyed sitting by the pool and having campfires. A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, January 25 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Dennis Gilbert officiating.  Burial will be held at Plainfield Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, January 24, from 6-8 pm as well as on Saturday from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home.   In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions to Gift of Life.
