Robert Bush

April 1, 1947 ~
March 7, 2022

Robert “Bob” Bailey Bush, age 74, of Grandville, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 7, 2022. Bob was born on April 1, 1947, to Roy and Dorothy Bush in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was the youngest of four children. Bob graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master’s in Architecture. While in college, Bob married the love of his life, Linda Jaworowski. They raised four children and have six living grandchildren. He was a man of faith who desired to follow his Savior and serve Him. Bob spent his life fighting against heart disease. He exercised diligently, meticulously watched his diet, and continuously expanded his knowledge to combat heart disease. Undoubtedly, this lifestyle helped him to live just short of his 75th birthday. He is a 10-year survivor of triple bypass and heart valve replacement surgery. His love of architecture, attention to detail, and thirst for knowledge, gave him a reputation as being a “walking encyclopedia” and one of the most knowledgeable building code consultants in the area. He enjoyed helping others by passing on his knowledge of health and fitness, participating in service projects, and skillfully renovating homes for his children and his historic Heritage Hill home, “the Gingerbread House.” Bob shared his love of astronomy with many friends and family, pointing out constellations to his children and traveling cross country to view solar eclipses. He loved rooting for the University of Michigan’s football team, and frequently attended a game each season with his sons. On a bucket-list trip, Bob rafted through the Grand Canyon with his son and grandson, embracing the grandeur of God’s Creation. Some of his favorite activities included running, playing board games (in particular, Monopoly), watching movies, and being with Linda’s big family. Bob will be remembered for his kindness, making others laugh, passion for acquiring and sharing knowledge, the many ways he showed love to his family, and his love for the Lord. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Linda (Jaworowski) Bush; his children and grandchildren, Jeff Bush and Christina Bouwens, Kristie and Dave Schrotenboer (Boden, Eli, Oakland, Berkeley), Amy and Brandon Wright (Leander, Cailyn), Jon and Leslie Bush; sister, Mary Ellen LaBotz; mother-in-law, Mary Jaworowski; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernie and Adrianna Jaworowski, Rick and Cheryl Jaworowski, Judy and Roger Tatreau, Karen and Noel Sexton, David and Julie Jaworowski, Donald and Patti Jaworowski, Ed and Rachelle Jaworowski; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Bush; brother, Larry Bush; and grandbaby, Gloria May Schrotenboer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, 11 a.m. at New Life Baptist Fellowship Church, 6252 Burlingame Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with Pastor Powers C. Payton officiating. Luncheon to follow. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday, March 18, 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville, MI 49418.
