Robert “Bob” Stebbins

Robert “Bob” Stebbins, age 92, of Byron Center, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, and is now reunited with his wife of 62 years, Anna Stebbins, who preceded him. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Stebbins; and his sister, Bonnie Merle. Bob was a kind and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was a man of great contentment and thankfulness. He was a strong man of faith who demonstrated his character through his words and actions. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He retired from C&O Railroad after 30 years of dedicated service. Following retirement, he and his wife enjoyed the outdoors together, camping around the state and then enjoying their summers up at Sportsman Park in Newaygo where they established many friendships. Bob especially enjoyed fly fishing on the many rivers in Michigan. Above all his love for Jesus and his family was evident to all who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Mike (Denise) Stebbins, Barb (Don) Freehafer; grandchildren, Josh (Jessica), David, Sarah, Leigh (Josh), Dayna (Lucas); eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Fay Schlender; and his loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 29, at 2 p.m. at  Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Jamestown) 2371 Riley St., Hudsonville, with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jamestown Baptist Church.
