Robert “Bob” N. Popma

Robert “Bob” N. Popma, aged 76 of Wyoming, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017. Bob was born in Grand Rapids on January 1, 1941, to Ralph and Margaret Popma. “Poppy” spent his professional career as a truck driver for 32 years and was a longtime member of the Teamsters #406. He had several physical challenges for many years and fought them courageously. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ed Popma, Dick Popma, and Cheryl Morton. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Suzanne “Sue”; sons, Michael (Cathy) Popma, Jeff (Christy) Popma; grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley), Dylan, Ryan, and Rebecca; great-granddaughter, Mila; siblings, Doris Hepp, Joe (Marlene) Popma, Mary Ellen DeWitt; sisters-in-law, Barb (Don) Monroe, Suzie Budai; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1630 Godfrey SW, Wyoming, with Fr. Stephen Dudek officiating. Interment Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Michigan or a hospice organization of one’s choice.
