Robert K. Aardema, age 87, of Hudsonville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 28, 2026. Bob was a kind and loving dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who deeply cherished his family. He always took an active role in supporting and encouraging them throughout the years where he enjoyed coaching Little League, boating, and creating the memories that his family will always cherish. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force that gave him a deep sense of honor and commitment. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in the airline industry, retiring from Delta Airlines after more than 30 years of faithful service. Over the years, he found great enjoyment in fishing, while golf became a favorite pastime in his later years.
Bob’s faith in Jesus was evident to all who knew him. He was very active in the churches he attended, generously sharing his time, talents, and willingness to serve wherever he was needed. He had a strong and abiding faith and genuinely enjoyed conversations and discussions about faith, scripture, and the things that mattered most. His faith was not simply something he spoke about, but something he sought to live out. Above all, he will be remembered for his kindness, his loving heart, his steadfast faith, and the deep love he had for his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Garriet “June;” son, Keith Aardema; infant great-granddaughter, Adeline; siblings, Thelma Bakker, Ann Van Norden, Chuck Aardema, and Jo Wheeler. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Beth and Mike Koop, Tom and Vicki Aardema; daughter-in-law, Kathy Aardema; grandchildren: Heather Aardema, Brandon and Brittany Kinsey, Scott and Stephanie Aardema, Jared and Brienna Aardema, Skyler and Cody Presley, Ryan and Ashley Koop, Brianne and Jeromy Mingerink, Paxton and Austin Keathley, Kestra Aardema, Hunter Aardema, Kelia and Gina Aardema; great-grandchildren: Sierra, Kierra, Carter, Josh, Jason, Everleigh, Lily, Amelia, Harlan, Geneva, Bodie, Weston, Lucey, Tessa, Jace, Dutton, Boone, Magnolia, and Wilder; brother and sister-in-law, Duke and Mary Aardema; several loving nieces and nephews.
