Richard Scott Douglass, age 74, of Grandville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with Frontotemporal Lobe Degeneration. Rich was a kind and loving husband, dad, and grandpa who treasured his family. He retired after 37 years of dedicated service as an educator and later a school psychologist with Lowell Area Public Schools. Faith was important to him, and he was active in his church community. Rich enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and canoe trips with his family. He obtained his builders license and over the years he built his family home and enjoyed renovating and restoring houses. As a devoted and involved dad and grandpa, he faithfully supported the activities of his family. Known for his intentionality, quiet leadership, and integrity, he touched many lives through both his work and personal example. He was preceded in death by his father, Claire Douglass and his father-in-law, Michael Jergovich. Rich will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Linda (Jergovich) Douglass; his children, Amy Tripp, Scott and Anne Douglass, Laura and Nick Seretis; grandchildren: Brandon, Ethan, and Carson Tripp, Michael, Sophia, and Abigail Douglass, Charlotte, and Theo Seretis; mother, Janet (Dennis) Douglass; mother-in-law, Eleanor Jergovich; brother, Jim and Pauline Douglass; sister, Mary Lear; sisters-in-law, Janet Griffiths, and Cindy and Ron Higgerson; and many loving nieces and nephews. A visitation followed by a memorial service will be held at Lowell Riverside Fellowship Seventh-Day Adventist Church (10300 Vergennes St. SE) on Saturday, September 13 starting at 3 pm.
