Richard Muncy

Richard “Dick” Muncy, age 88, of the Grand Rapids area, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 1, 2021. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Muncy Jr.; grandson, Joseph Muncy; brothers, Ronald Muncy and Robert Haight; sisters, Marilyn Piersma and Patricia Monroe. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Roxanne Daley-Haller, Penny and Bob Walendzik; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In 1960, Dick founded Grand Rapids Spring and Wire in the basement of his home and incorporated his business in 1961. In 1987, he sold the business and the name was changed to Grand Rapids Spring and Stamping. He enjoyed building and flying remote controlled airplanes, fishing, playing his harmonica, and collecting and rebuilding transistor radios. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. The service will be live streamed and can be viewed on the funeral home website by clicking on the “live streams and recordings” tab. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. The burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Kindred Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
