Richard Alan Dill

October 21, 2026

Richard Alan Dill, affectionately known as “Dick” and “Pickles,” joined his beloved daughter, Megan, in heaven on October 21, 2026.

Dick grew up on the north end of Grand Rapids, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He spent his career driving truck, most of those years with Spartan Stores, where he retired after 37 years as a member of Teamsters Local 406.

Dick loved spending time with family and friends. His unique sense of humor and quick wit made him the life of the party and left those around him with countless stories and cherished memories. He loved the outdoors and appreciated the beauty of nature, never missing a chance to enjoy a good “moonrise” or a beautiful sunset, especially over Bills Lake.

Dick often said he was “so blessed” with his children and grandchildren. Of all the blessings in his life, his family was his greatest. His love lives on through his wife of 46 years, Doris Dill; son, Bill Esch; daughter, Melissa (Brandon) Monreal; son, Rory (Jordan) Dill; and his cherished grandchildren, Kelan, Bexley, and Vivian Monreal, and Brantley and Brewer Dill.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, the love, laughter, and memories he shared with those who knew him will keep his spirit close to their hearts.

Dick was preceded in death by his daughter, Megan Dill; parents, Lorraine and Robert Dill; brothers, David Dill and Don Dill, and Don’s wife, Pat Dill; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Thomas and Bertha VanDyke; brother-in-law, Calvin VanDyke; sister-in-law, Karen VanDyke; nephew, David Dill; great-nephew, Dustin Bowman and great-niece, Kassandra Dill.

Visitation will be held at MKD Funeral Home in Belmont, Michigan, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, 8279 Elm Avenue in Croton Township, on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Father Phil Shangraw officiating.

Following the graveside service, the family warmly invites all who knew and loved Pickles to gather for an informal celebration of his life at the Bills Lake Association Grounds. Please bring a dish to pass, your beverage of choice, and a lawn chair as we share stories, laughter, and memories in his honor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fremont Area Community Foundation for the Megan Dill Memorial Scholarship Fund.
