February 7, 1925 ~
March 11, 2026

Rev. Marion C. Groenendyk, age 101, of Wyoming, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Marion faithfully served his country as a veteran of World War II, spending 16 months stationed in Okinawa. Following the war, he farmed in Iowa for several years and then answered the call to ministry and served as pastor at Bristolwood Christian Reformed Church, Eastmanville Christian Reformed Church, First Christian Reformed Church of Zeeland, and Bethany United Reformed Church. His life was marked by a deep commitment to his faith, his congregation, and the community.

Outside of ministry,  he especially loved his family and the precious times spent together. He also enjoyed woodworking, bowling, gardening, and traveling. He was also actively involved in Crossroads Prison Ministry, faithfully sharing encouragement and hope with many through that outreach. Marion was preceded in death by his wives, Thelma (DeWitt) Groenendyk in 1985 and Jeanette (DeJong) Groenendyk in 2023, and by his granddaughter, Lorrie Muller. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Vern and Barb Groenendyk, Connie and Paul Muller, and Wailand and Jean Groenendyk; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and his brother-in-law, Howard Bomgaars.

A service of Remembrance and Christian Hope will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with his grandson Rev. Tad Groenendyk and Rev. Casey Freswick officiating. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Friday, March 20, from 6-8 pm at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10-10:45 am prior to the service.
