Rebecca was born on October 18, 1973, in Berrien Springs to Richard and Cindy Sing. She grew up in southwest Michigan and graduated from Lakeshore High School. Rebecca achieved her bachelor’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Aquinas College and her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. She taught at the University of Phoenix for ten years and at Cornerstone University Professional and Graduate Studies since 2017. She enjoyed teaching and counseling in person and online. Her most rewarding experience was when her students learned something new. Rebecca also was a Case Manager/Law Enforcement Officer with Friend of the Court for 19 years, although her true passion was educating her students.

Rebecca was a proud foster mother of nine children who are all grown and had 12 foster grandchildren she would attempt to visit monthly. In May of 2021, Rebecca had the privilege of traveling to St. Thomas with her granddaughter, Brianna Deurloo. Rebecca said this was her “happy place”, amongst the sun and the sand. It was here she decided that life was too short for things that ultimately didn’t bring her pure happiness. Rebecca was planning to go back to her favorite destination this coming March.

After battling Covid Pneumonia with full oxygen for over six weeks, Rebecca decided to go on comfort care on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, and proceeded to join Jesus and her Dad in Heaven later that afternoon. Rebecca is survived by her mother, Cindy Sing; brother, Jeremy (Christa) Sing; sister, Rachel (Todd Bythrow); nieces, Celeste (Matthew) Bell, and Nina Sing; nephews, Jacob, and Noah Bythrow, Adam Sing, Wyatt, and Weston Bell; granddaughter, Brianna Deurloo; her foster children, April Harrell, Brandon Carter, Jackie (Dan) Ream, Alex (Chris) Killion, Balinda McCoy; foster grandchildren, Mariah, and Mayanna Harrell, Toby, and Val Killion, Uriah, Malakhy, and Journie McCoy, Natalie, Xairyanna, Alexandria, Brandon II, and Kei’Lanni.

Rebecca was an inspiration to countless children, families, and students and made a profound impact on our society. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
