Ray “Butch” Nawrot, Jr., age 71, of Wyoming, was taken home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Kathy; his children, Chris (Pam) Nawrot, Linda Nawrot, Jeff (Johannah) Nawrot; grandchildren, Christina, Sarah, Matthew, Cody, Peyton; sister, Bette (Jim) Buffington; father-in-law, Ray Toren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gail (Bruce) Douglas, Sandee (Jim) Cook, Scott (Alice) Toren, Nancy (Tim) Schoonmaker, Diane (Dave Kooienga) Durham, Doug (Mary) Toren, Ray (Nikki Baker) Toren, Neal (Michelle) Toren; and many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lucile; nephew, Brian Buffington; and mother-in-law, Shirley Toren. Ray and his father, Ray Sr., began Hobby World at 1049 28th St. in 1972. They soon outgrew that space and moved to 2851 Clyde Park Ave. where the family continues to run the business. Ray was a devoted Catholic and family man. He was a lifelong member of St. John Vianney Parish and helped with many activities at church. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. He especially enjoyed helping his children with building projects around their homes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, August 7, 2017 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming. Relatives and friends may meet the family from 2 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm on Sunday, August 6 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming and on Monday at the church one hour prior to the Mass. A vigil will be held at 6pm Sunday at the funeral home.
