Raymond J. Diehl

Raymond Joseph Diehl, age 94, joined his wife, Genevieve with our Lord in heaven on October 8, 2016.  Born in Carrington, ND, Raymond served his country with honor in the US Navy during WWII - at D-day in Normandy, escorting FDR to Malta, and on the Pacific front. While on shore leave in LA, he met Genevieve, whom he married and shared 69 wonderful years. Raymond was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4362 and reached the rank of 4th Degree, which symbolizes patriotism. He loved sailing with his friends and golfing with his sons. He had a kind and open heart and brought laughter and music wherever he went. He is survived by his brother, Jack (Charmagne) Diehl of San Diego;  his five children, Raymond (Louise) Diehl, Mary Diehl Brezinski, Richard (Darlene) Diehl, Gloria Diehl Pirkola (Wayne Brown) and Matthew (Tami) Diehl; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Monday, October 17 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 1253 - 52nd Street SE, Kentwood with visitation from 9:30 to 11am. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery with military honors immediately following luncheon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus 4362.
