Philip Reed

Philip Reed, age 83, of Lowell, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Reed. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Beth Reed; his children, Brian and Diane Reed, Gregg and Andrea Reed; stepchildren, Jeffrey Pranskaitis, Jennifer Kent; grandchildren, Rebecca and Kyle Koning, Nicholas and Rachel Reed, Daniel Reed, Ashley Reed; stepgrandchildren, Paige Vizard, Hailey Pranskaitis; great-grandchildren, Aly Koning, Gideon Koning, Sophia Reed, Margot Reed; brother, William and Carol Reed; and sister-in-law, Karen Reed. Phil retired after 25 years from the Grand Rapids Press as a Major Accounts Representative and had worked for JC Penney for 27 years before that as an Advertising and Display Manager. He was fun-loving and a storyteller extraordinaire. His greatest joy was the title of Grandpa and all of the time spent with the grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. He also cheered heartily for the University of Michigan and enjoyed many visits to the Big House. Phil was always willing to help anyone who needed it. He was a happy whistler and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, at 11 a.m. at South Grandville Christian Reformed Church, 4130 Wilson Ave SW, Grandville, with Pastor Rod Galindo officiating. The burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 21, from 5-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
