Philip Joseph Sweeney, aged 93 of Wyoming, went to be with his Lord on Friday, June 22, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bernice; children, Pat (Tim) Mariner, Sue Myrick-Veldkamp, Barb (Shorty) Williams, Michelle McCasland, Joan Smith, Bob (Kim) Sweeney, John (Christine) Sweeney; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; brothers, Paul and Richard Sweeney; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Regina Sweeney; brothers and sisters, Jack, Eileen, Kathleen and David; son-in-law, Robert Veldkamp; his grandson, Matthew Smith; great grandsons, Caden and Gabriel. Phil proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a past commander and lifetime member of American Legion Post #208. He retired after many years from Lear Siegler. Phil enjoyed hunting and fishing at his cabin in Fife Lake, MI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church.
